With our direct cremation services, we usually conduct the cremations at our local crematorium. The ashes will then be returned to the family and friends of the deceased, who can then decide what they think is best to do with them.

What Happens at a Direct Cremation?
Also known as a basic cremation, simple cremation, unattended cremation, cremation without ceremony, or a ‘pure’ cremation, a direct cremation will just involve the cremation only, without an attended ceremony. Our direct cremations are usually done locally in Sedgemoor, or at the Weston-super-Mare crematorium.
Although there’s not usually a service with a direct cremation, we do offer other options along with our direct cremation service if this is something you’d like to explore. For example our attended ceremony gives you, your friends, and family the time and space to come together and celebrate the life of the deceased, in any way that feels right to you. How Much is a Direct Cremation?
Our direct cremations cost £995.
This cost includes collection of the deceased from their place of rest (within a 20-mile radius of Long Ashton), and a simple, environmentally-friendly coffin for the cremation.
How Much is an Attended Direct Cremation?
Our attended direct cremations cost £1240.
This service gives mourners the chance to attend a ceremony in the Crematorium Chapel, where they are free to share memories, read poems, and reflect on the life of the deceased together.
After the Cremation
What Happens to the Ashes After a Direct Cremation?
Once the cremation is complete, the ashes are handed back to those closest to the deceased. They can then decide what they would like to do with them, such as scattering them somewhere special.
It’s important to keep in mind that if you do decide to scatter the ashes, this may require you to seek out permission from the landowner of the area you choose – we are always here to offer our advice and support with this if you’d like to talk anything through.
Our services offer the option of scattering ashes in the Garden of Remembrance at the crematorium, or you can also choose to have them interred in a new or existing plot at the local cemetery or churchyard, which you can also choose to have along with our attended ceremony service.
