With our direct cremation services, the cremation will usually take place at our local crematorium, before the ashes are then returned to the family of the deceased.

What Happens at a Direct Cremation?
Also referred to as a basic cremation, simple cremation, unattended cremation, cremation without ceremony, or a ‘pure’ cremation, our direct cremation services will always take place locally, either in Sedgemoor or the Weston-super-Mare crematorium. After this, the ashes will be handed to the family or friends of the deceased.
While a direct cremation does not include a traditional service, we do offer the option of an attended ceremony if that’s something you’d like to explore. This could look like a separate service or celebration of life event – anything that lets you and your loved ones say farewell in the way that suits you.

Our direct cremations cost £995. This cost includes collection of the deceased from their place of rest (within a 20-mile radius of Clevedon), and a simple, environmentally-friendly coffin for the cremation.
How Much is an Attended Direct Cremation?
Our attended direct cremations cost £1240. This service gives mourners the chance to attend a ceremony in the Crematorium Chapel, where they are free to share memories, read poems, and reflect on the life of the deceased together.
After the Cremation
What Happens to the Ashes After a Direct Cremation?
Following a cremation, the ashes of the deceased are always handed back to the family, who can then decide what they feel is best to do with them.
Our direct cremation service gives you the option of scattering the ashes of the deceased in the Garden of Remembrance at the Crematorium, or you can choose to have them interred in a new or existing plot at the local cemetery or churchyard. We also offer an attended cremation service if you’d like to have a ceremony included with your cremation.
You can also decide to scatter the ashes at another place of your choosing, for example somewhere special that held some meaning to the deceased. It’s important to note that this might require you to seek permission from the landowner, depending on the place you choose. We can always provide our support with this if you need it.
