All aspects of a funeral can be arranged to suit the individual needs of the client. A hearse is conventional, but other vehicles such as an ordinary estate car, horse drawn hearse, lorry, motorbike etc have been used by us in recent years. We can come to your home to arrange the funeral or if you wish you may come to our office in Winscombe.
There are various things that will need to be considered including coffins, additional vehicles, obituary notices, flower etc. We will help and advise you through this difficult period. We will also deal with all the paperwork and help with registering the death, liaising with hospitals, crematoria, burial grounds, churches, clergy etc. We can provide detailed estimates covering any of the services discussed above or any other requirements.
Where to Hold the Service
Firstly you will need to decide whether you wish the deceased to be buried or cremated. You may wish to have a funeral service in a Church followed by the committal in either the Crematorium, Cemetery or Churchyard or you may wish to hold the whole service in the Crematorium Chapel.
We have also had experience with arranging services in local village halls. Ordinarily the family have attended a private committal and then had the main funeral service in the hall where they are not so restricted with time.
Vehicles
Our limousines seat a maximum of seven people and our estate car seats a maximum of four. They can be used to collect the mourners from home and take them to the funeral. After the service the cars will return the mourners either back to their home or to where they are having refreshments.
Newspaper Notice
We shall be pleased to help you compile notices for both local and national newspapers. Some papers will only accept notices from funeral directors. You may also wish to put an acknowledgement in the paper after the funeral to thank people for their support, flowers, donations etc.
Floral Tributes & Donations
We are able to order floral tribute for the funeral and will pleased to show you our catalogues. We can also order tributes on behalf of other family members and friends. It is usual to have all the floral tributes delivered to our premises prior to the funeral. After a cremation service families often request that we take suitable tributes to local hospitals or homes for the elderly. We do not charge for this service.
You may wish to have only floral tributes from the family and ask other mourners to send donations for a nominated charity. If you do wish for this, it is advisable to put the details in the newspaper announcement. We will collect any donations on your behalf and will provide you with a list of donors and the total amount given. We usually keep the donations open for four to six weeks after the funeral service.
